A girl from Yuji’s past reunites with him in hopes of pursuing a romantic relationship. Later, the Jujutsu Tech mole is revealed and a battle unlike any other begins.

Half funny, half serious, this is an episode in two halves. The first focuses on a girl from Yuji’s past wanting to start a relationship with him and really showcases the kind of person that Yuji, kind, caring, non-judgemental. It’s quite funny if a little fast paced and it also is heartwarming to see how Yuji is as a person and how it affects others, even without him knowing it. After that we move onto the mole storyline. Remember that? It was mentioned for like 5 seconds in season one and now we know who it is. This leads into one of the best fights in all of JJK, and the single most unique one, and already we’ve gotten a taste of how good it’s going to be. This half could have had more emotional weight to it, but honestly, this is about as uninteresting as the manga, at least for me. That sounds mean, but it means I just didn’t really care much about it, that happens sometimes, and the mole reveal just doesn’t do it for me. But the beginning of the fight proper after that absolutely hyped me up. All in all, the biggest weakness of this episode is that it doesn’t do enough to evolve the manga, and honestly in the first half I think it lost some of what the manga had going for it in terms of the message of the story. Either way though, aside from some issues here and there with the dialogue/exposition, which are probably just translation issues, this was a great episode.

The acting is perfect, moving on. Seriously, this segment feels completely useless at this point because there’s nothing more to be said. This is JJK, well, the japanese version, so of course the voice acting is going to be perfect, I’ll actually bother writing something here when someone DOESN’T give perfect delivery.

Basically my only issue with the animation this episode is the weird wiggly line drawings done during the first half and the terrible walking animation that looked like a PNG being dragged up and down by a mouse cursor. That’s basically it. Aside from that, the start of the epic showdown had some minor choreography issues in my opinion, with some things feeling a little slow and poorly shown, but that’s pretty minor. Also the escape from the concrete room, wherever the fuck that was, was kinda confusing. Like, I don’t really understand the perspective chosen or what was shown, but hey, it still visually looked good. Aside from these extremely minor things this was incredibly well done! Who knew ping-pong could look so epic, that Human Earthworm 4 was so beautiful, or just how massive the Principal’s office is?! Seriously, great animation MAPPA, can’t wait to see how much blood, sweat, and tears went into next episode.

Surprising nobody, this is a rather down to earth and silly episode, a nice bridge before the emotionally scarring, action heavy, terrifying nightmare to come. It’s Like That is also going to make all of what’s to come so, so much worse, I can tell already. The animation is godly, the writing was pretty damn great, even if it didn’t really improve upon the source material, and goddammit I need next episode in my veins. I cannot hype it enough, MAPPA can’t possibly fuck it up, it is a top 5 fight, end of, as any manga reader. Oh and the acting was as good as japanese voice acting, especially JJK japanese voice acting, usually is. Perfect, it was perfect. See you next time, where I will hopefully have more to talk about, since this episode was very simple!
