An Autist Reviews: Divorced, Beheaded, Regenerated (Missy 1.2)

The Meddling Monk is in England and he’s going by a different name… and title. He is King Henry VIII, and he’s looking for his sixth wife! Missy has also come to England, and she’s posing as a suitor for the King, but don’t worry, she’s not here to kill the Monk. It’s the paradox eaters that are going to do that. Maybe. Who knows? But Missy is here to help! Or so she says she is… and the Monk needs her to get him off Earth. So what does he have to lose? His life? Probably.
This is going to be a short review. I wrote about 4-5 pages of notes, but most of them are just my going on about how good this is. The humor is 10/10. There are only 3 jokes I don’t like and for 2 of them, it’s just because I don’t get them. The story is great, the banter between Missy, the Monk, and Catherine is always a blast, and can we talk about some well-done flashbacks and some great resolutions? Now, as it’s been noted, the story does sort of
So, there’s not much to say for the acting. Missy, the Monk, and Catherine are all solid platinum aside from about 2-4 lines between them which are less than perfect to say the most. The side characters are all flamboyant and great. Now, the bad guys would be the paradox eaters, and it’s only an 8 because of some small reasons. They deliver 90% of their lines perfectly, but it’s impossible to tell the two monsters apart, which gets really annoying. So, that’s why it’s rated so low. That and how dumb the paradox eaters sound despite it being said in the BTS that the actors tried to keep that from being the case.
Okay, let’s start from the bottom and move up in terms of quality. The music is great. It’s period-appropriate, it makes for good transitions, and it makes every scene that much better… but I can’t forgive how quiet it is for about 70%-80% of the story. Now, the voice effects. It’s only this low because of the paradox eaters who have good enough effects on their voices but it makes them sound even dumber and harder to tell apart, which is really annoying. Now, the action effects are great throughout, but because the odd one sounds a little off or is a little quieter than it should be, I have to leave it at a 9/10. I really can’t go on with it, because the effects are just generally great. Also, the background effects are solid gold. I mean, really. From dripping water in a dank dungeon to chirping birds in the countryside the background effects are great!
So, replay is the easiest of the bunch. I love this story and I’ll gladly listen to it over and over again, much like another very comedic story I gave a 10 in the River Song’s seventh box set. Now, there aren’t really any details to notice on a second listen, but you’ll find yourself understanding more and more jokes as you go through… but some might still be missed.
All in all, this is a hilarious story that made me laugh out loud. Like, I NEVER do that, but I do while listening to this story. Every line is delivered with grace and comedic timing, every line is well thought out, almost every effect is brilliant, and I just love this story. I love it. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Also, can someone explain the Hampton Court joke and the ‘all is true’ reference??? PLEASE? I want to get the jokesssssss~!!!
